Visitation Policy

This Visitation Policy is designed to promote resident, visitor, and employee safety and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The community currently does not restrict visitation.

As per Florida Statute 408.823, the Administrator or the designee will be responsible for ensuring that Ashton Place staff adhere to this policy.

Visitation Policy

In-Person Visitation.

Ashton Place allows in-person visitation for residents by family members, friends, guardians, clergy,

and other individuals unless the resident objects or visitation is not clinically appropriate as determined by the resident’s physician or against a physician’s orders.

Screening Process.

Sign in upon entering the facility and before interacting with any staff, residents, family members or friends. Visitors are required to use hand sanitizer before interaction with any resident. Hand washing with soap is also acceptable. Masks are recommended but not required.

If a resident is in isolation, visitors are required to wear an N-95 mask, gown, and gloves. The facility will provide the visitor with personal protective equipment (PPE) needed prior to permitting entry. If a resident is in quarantine the visitor is required to wear a KN-95 mask. If they do not have one, the facility will provide one prior too permitting entry. An N95 mask can be provided upon request. All visitors must immediately inform Ashton Place if they develop COVID-19 symptoms or test positive for

COVID-19 within ten (10) days of their visit.

Visitation Hours.

Residents are permitted to have visitors each day between the hours of 8:30 am. to 9 pm.

There is no limit to the length of visitation.

Number of visitors.

At this time Ashton does not restrict the number of visitors as long as staff can ensure the

safety and respect of resident rights to the residents of Ashton.

Essential Caregivers.

A resident or their responsible party may designate anyone they choose as an Essential Caregiver.

There are no limits on the number of identified Essential Caregivers per resident.

Special Circumstances.

In the event a Local, State or Federal agency might require restriction, the Essential Caregiver will be allowed in all the following circumstances, unless the resident objects:

  • End-of-life situations

  • A resident who was living with family before moving into the community is

  • struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support

  • The resident is making one or more major medical decisions

  • A resident is experiencing emotional distress

  • A resident is grieving the loss of a friend or family member who recently died

  • A resident needs cueing or encouragement to eat or drink which was previously

  • provided by a family member or caregiver

  • A resident who used to talk and interact with others is seldom speaking

  • During these times, visits must be conducted in the residents’ room.

PPE (ie gowns, masks, gloves) will be provided to the visitors.

Staff will educate visitors on the proper use and disposal of material.

Consensual Physical Contact.

A resident and his or her visitor are permitted to engage in consensual physical contact. In no instance will any Ashton Place staff prohibit or interfere with such non-sexual, consensual physical contact. Staff may encourage infection control precautions and safe distancing.

Expectation of visitors.

Visitor conduct is expected to be appropriate and non-disruptive. Any issues related to disruptive conduct (aggression, failure to comply with Ashton Place’s policies and procedures, etc.) will be initially managed by the Wellness Director or supervisor. If unresolved, the issue will be brought to the attention of Ashton Place’s Administrator or designee.

No Proof of Vaccination or Immunization Requirements.

Ashton Place staff are prohibited from asking any visitor for proof of any vaccination or immunization. Visitation by visitors, including Essential Caregivers, is not contingent upon showing proof of any vaccination or immunization.
